Shopping Centre & Housing Complex

A custom designed build that boasts a sophisticated, elegant interior.

The design team that worked on this commercial venture designed and developed the brief with all service users in mind, while maintaining the integrity of the existing space.

Urban life is predicted by proximity, walkability and immediacy.

The site itself is front placed at the prevailing building line of the street making it more accessible to passers-by, enhancing economic viability and strengthening spatial definition of the street. This build plays an important role as a central meeting place for both leisure and trade in the town, whilst also incorporating living quarters.

The extensive site for this project boasts an elevated position of shops and Post Office which then  leads down to the lower level, housing one of the town’s supermarkets; Supervalu. Blending muted tones within the colour scheme that compliment the location, this project also incorporated various modern techniques of design.

As part of this build there are also 29 houses atop the complex, the style of which highlights the intended design of the brief in relation to the spaces below. The orientation of these living spaces is in direct synchronicity with daylight, which optimises natural light even in wintertime.

Incorporating multiple levels and floors, these apartments, whilst overlooking a communal garden area, nestle well into their urban surroundings.

The open plan fenestration also compliments this design. The soft, muted colours were deliberately chosen for this project and combine traditional tastes with a modern, contemporary feel. A  distinctive vision was set out for this project that focused on providing a relaxing atmosphere, the emphasis of which was on quality, comfort and functionality.
