Contemporary Design

A contemporary project we have recently undertaken resides in Castleblayney, County Monaghan. This build is a juxtaposition of both modern and traditional features. Although large, this space feels intimate with axial vistas which are intentionally oriented to the outdoors and responds well to the surrounding environs.  Indeed, with its prominent steep gables, it appears to rise as an organic part of the landscape.  The house remains true to the vernacular precedent of simplicity, with straightforward lines and tailored spaces. Custom built to reflect today’s lifestyles, the house, thoughtfully designed, utilises contemporary features.

The house is flooded with natural light and includes curved staircases that are among living spaces which open out onto other rooms within the house.  Modern elements of this house are showcased strongest with the barrel vault and arched roof between living areas.  The elegant craftsmanship of this sculpted piece evokes the feeling of space and reflects the client’s vision perfectly. The interior palette of this project echoes its surroundings of soft tones and natural materials. Light, space and the freedom in combining these elements, creates an elusive charm to this specially commissioned build.
